United Kingdom was first broadcast by the BBC on 8 December 1981 in its Play for Today series. The producer was Kenith Trodd, the director was Roland Joffe. The cast included Colin Welland, Val McLane, Bill Paterson, Rosemary Martin and Ricky Tomlinson.
The Jim Allen collection of scripts and correspondence is held at the Working Class Movement Library in Salford.
